Poems to Girls

Chatterton was no more than a boy.  So it is fair enough say 'Poems to Girls'. In any case it seems that most of his 'Poems to Girls' were written on behalf of his friend John Baker.  I dearly wish I could present you with portraits of the girls, however, the camera wasn't  invented until the 1830's, and painted portraits were for the rich and famous. 

I can tell you that John Baker was a boyhood friend of Chatterton's, although he apparently, did not go to the same school.  Baker, at the end of his apprenticeship, was shipped of to a job in America : View More
